Pratt Community College Director of Athletics Bill Wilson announced today the hiring of Todd Biggs as the Beavers new head track and field coach. Biggs brings his knowledge of coaching in the Jayhawk conference and his Kansas connections to the helm of the Blue and White.
"We are excited to have Todd Biggs join the PCC family as our next head track and field coach," Bill Wilson said. "Todd has junior college coaching experience and knowledge of the Jayhawk Conference. He is well connected in the state of Kansas through his ties to Pittsburg State University and Wichita State University. We look forward to him raising the Beaver track and field program to new heights."
Biggs is formerly the head track and field/cross country coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College where he was named the NJCAA indoor track and field coach of the year and the KCKCC coach of the year. Biggs has also served as an assistant coach at Pittsburg State where he also worked as a transfer coordinator within the admissions department. While coaching at Pittsburg State, he coached the 1999 NCAA division II men's national champion javelin thrower. Biggs has served as a college access advisor at Wichita State. During his time at Wichita State he gained experience lobbying in Topeka and Washington D.C. Biggs has also been the owner of Biggs' Backyard landscaping in Pittsburg and he served on the USD 250 school board.
"I'd like to thank Dr. Calvert, Bill Wilson, and the rest of the hiring committee for the opportunity," Biggs said. "I look forward to coaching in the Jayhawk Conference again, and I'm eager to get started."
Biggs is a graduate of Pittsburg State. During his time as a student at PSU, he competed in track and field. Biggs is a two time PSU All-Conference CSIC track and field athlete in 1988-89, a PSU letterman, and a national qualifier for the NAIA national track championships.
"The big attractions for me in Pratt are the wonderful community, great college, and the fact that Dr. Calvert and Mr. Wilson expressed their desire to make PCC track and field nationally competitive," Biggs said. "That's what I intend to do here!"
