PCC women's soccer falls to Coffeyville in home opener

The Pratt Community College women's soccer team hosted Coffeyville Community College for their home opener this season. A swift Coffeyville offense played spoiler on the day as the Beavers fall to Coffeyville 0-7.

Pratt's Jessica Moncrief and Cala Jamison tried sparking the offense with a shot each. The goalkeeper for the Blue and White, Brittany Smith managed to have five saves before going down with an injury in the second half. Ryann Giggey stepped into the net for the remainder of the game and had two saves. Player of the game goes to Coffeyville's Gabriela Rodrigues. Whe ended the game with three goals and an assist.

"We still have a lot to work on," PCC head coach Ashley Burnett said. "We are taking each game one at a time and learning from each one. Staying healthy is a priority."

PCC women's soccer goes on a long, three game road stretch over the next few weeks. The Beavers are next in action when they travel to El Reno, OK to face Redlands College. Kickoff for the game is set for 2 p.m.
