PCC women's soccer drops defensive battle to Hesston College

The Pratt Community College women's soccer team traveled to face Hesston College on Sept. 9. The Beavers fought hard in the defensive matchup, but a pair of late goals by Hesston broke the deadlock. PCC falls to Hesston 0-2.

The Blue and White saw a good balance of offense and defense against Hesston College. Pratt was led by Jessica Moncrief and Cala Johnson who each had two shots against the stout Hesston goalkeepers. Brittany Smith kept the ball out of the net during the defensive struggle with 25 saves. Hesston broke through in the final 15 minutes with goals by Miho Okuda and Kenzie Johnson.

"I'm very proud of the way the girls played," said Head Coach Ashley Burnett. "Each of them played their hearts out. We did have a very good chance to finish the game, but we did not deliver. Hesston gave us a good battle. Two very late goals led to the heartbreaking loss. We are continuing to improve with every game. The girls now know what we are capable of."

PCC women's soccer returns home on Sept. 13 for a match against Hutchinson Community College. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
