PCC track competes at the 2018 NJCAA indoor track nationals

Pratt Community College track and field ended the indoor portion of the season by competing at the NJCAA national championship meet. The Beavers competed in nine events over the two day event in Lubbock, Tex.

The women represented the Blue and White well at nationals competing in four events. Madeline Jacobsen ran in the 600m dash. Jacobsen finished the race in 1:41.84 for a top ten finish. In the 400m run, Anysia Romain ran a 1:01.06. The highlight of nationals for Pratt was the women's 4x400m relay. The team of Feja Hodges, Ashley Marcelin, Jacobsen, and Romain broke their school record again with the time of 4:01.48 for a top 15 finish.

On the men's side, the Beavers competed in five events. Yves Cherubin ran an 8.92 in the 60m hurdles. In the 600m dash, Elijah Battle finished in 1:25.03. Running the 60m dash Dorson St. Phard ended the race at 7.03. Christopher McEnery ran in the 400m race. McEnery finished in the top 25 with a time of 49.47. Finishing the meet was the men's 4x400m relay. Darius Ruff, Joshua Mitchell, Battle, and McEnery ran the race with a time of 3:29.84.

"The meet didn't go as planned, but I'm proud of these kids for powering through the transition and succeeding," said Jamaal Barnes head track and field coach at PCC. "We were able to gain a lot of experience this indoor season. Coach Larson and myself hope transitions into the outdoor season and translates into results for the Beavers."

PCC track and field begins the outdoor season at the Butch Reynolds Invitational in El Dorado, Kan. on March 9. Events for the invitational, hosted by Butler Community College, begin at 10 a.m.
