Pratt Community College baseball returned to Stanion Field to conclude a four game series against Colby Community College. Colby had taken the first two games in the series and the Beavers looked to even things up on their home field. Pratt roared out to 10-1 lead by the third inning of Game 3 and never looked back. PCC takes Game 3 14-1. In the fourth game, the Blue and White fought Colby to a 3-3 tie through three innings. Colby took and extended the lead. Going into the ninth, Pratt mounted a rally that fell short of claiming the win. PCC falls 7-11 in Game 4.
The Beavers used the long ball to their advantage in Game 3 with three home runs over the course of the game. Trace Maddux, Darrian Aldridge, and Sean Johnson each ended the game going two for three at bat. Khalir Vazquez went a perfect three for three at the plate with two RBIs and a run. Gage Axline led the team in RBI's with four.
On the mound Dalton Huggins threw the complete game. He allowed six hits, three runs, and two walks. Huggins also struck out five of the 23 batters he faced.
Pratt took a quick lead in Game 4. Axline doubled driving in Elerie Rivera and Johnson for a 2-0 lead. Colby scored a run in the second and two runs in the third to take the lead. The Beavers tied things up in the third inning at 3-3. The Colby bats grew hot and put up eight runs over the remainder of the game. PCC trailed 11-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Down to their final three outs, the Blue and White mounted a comeback. Aldridge bunted a leadoff single. Two batters later and with one out Rivera hit a line drive home run over the left field fence. Two more runners reached base and Ashton Roy drove them in with a double to left field. The rally ebbed at that point as Colby got the next two outs to end the game. PCC comes up short at 7-11.
Aldridge, Rivera, and Roy commanded the Blue and White offense in Game 4. Aldridge ended the game going two for four at bat with a run. Rivera finished the game going two for four at the plate with two runs and two RBIs. Roy had the best performance for Pratt going three for four in the game with a pair of RBIs. Johnson led the team in runs with three.
PCC baseball hits the road on March 13 for a game against Cowley County Community College. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
