PCC baseball faces NOC-Enid in mid-week matchup

The Pratt Community College baseball team returned to Stanion Field for a mid-week matchup with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on April 17. NOC-Enid came out swinging and took an early lead over PCC. A big inning in the fifth gave the Beavers life to fight back. Following the fifth inning, Pratt added runs in the sixth and eighth, but came up short. PCC loses to NOC-Enid 8-14.

Pratt fell behind early as NOC-Enid's offense was hot at the plate. The Blue and White trailed 0-9 after the second inning. Things turned around for the Beavers in the fifth with a high scoring inning. With runners at second and third, Gage Axline grounded to the shortstop for the sacrifice scoring Elerie Rivera. The next batter walked to put runners on the corners. Kenneth Gonzalez reach first allowing Ashton Roy to score from third. Another run scored for PCC before Carl Cooper hit a single to left driving in two more runs allowing the Blue and White to put across five runs in the fifth inning.

The Blue and White cut into the lead further in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on the corners, Eric Escamilla hit a sacrifice fly to center field bringing Roy home. A couple batters later Trevor Wetzel doubled to left field bringing Axline home. Roy scored again in the eighth inning on another sacrifice fly by Escamilla. The Beavers could not build a rally off of the sacrifice as NOC-Enid takes the win.

Rivera batted three for six with a run for the Blue and White. Roy hit two for four with three runs. Escamilla came through for Pratt batting one for two with two RBIs and a run. Cooper ended the game two for four at the plate with two RBIs.

PCC baseball begins a four game series against Hutchinson Community College with a double header on April 19 in Hutchinson, Kan. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. with the second game starting around 3:30 p.m.
