PCC baseball wraps up season with road series at Southeast Nebraska Community College

The 2018 season for Pratt Community College baseball comes to an end with a three game road series against Southeast Nebraska Community College. PCC battled Southeast in three hard fought games. In the end it came down to the third and final game where the Beavers fell behind Southeast and came up short in the ninth. PCC takes one of the three games in the series.

Game one saw Southeast get on the board first in the second inning. The Blue and White tied things up in the third. An error by the left fielder brought Darrian Aldridge home for the run. Pratt took the lead in the fifth off of an error. Later in the inning and with bases loaded Keaton Gage grounded out to third base, but Elerie Rivera scored for the Beavers. PCC took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth. Southeast countered with a double in the fifth to clear the bases and take the lead. Pratt's offense went cold as the Beavers fell to Southeast 3-4 in game one.

Rivera led the offense for the Blue and White in the first game. Rivera finished three for four at the plate with a run. Ashton Roy hit two for four. Aldridge batted two for three with a pair of runs. On the mound, Dalton Huggins struck out seven and walked three of the 22 batters he faced.

The Beavers wasted no time in the first game taking the lead in the first inning with four runs. Pratt loaded the bases and scored thanks to two singles in four at bats. Southeast answered with three runs in the bottom of the first. After one complete inning, PCC lead 4-3.

Going into the fourth, the Blue and White added four runs to the lead. Gage Axline singled to center to bring Aldridge home. Roy came up next and hit a home run to right field. Another run by Pratt sent PCC into the bottom of the fourth leading 8-3. Southeast cut the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Pratt gained runs in the eighth and the ninth innings to take the win in game 2 10-7.

Rivera continued to excel at the plate for the Beavers in game two. Rivera ended the game three for six with a run. Sean Johnson batted two for four with a run and an RBI. Aldridge hit two for four with two runs. Kenneth Gonzalez finished two for four with an RBI.

The rubber match between Pratt and Southeast saw the Blue and White fall behind early. Late efforts by the Beavers mounted six runs, but could not tie the game with Southeast. PCC drops game three to Southeast 6-10.

Aldridge went a perfect four for four with a run and an RBI in game three. Roy hit two for five with a run. Khalir Vazquez batted one for four with a run. Rivera ended the game one for four with a run.
