Sophomores to continue athletic and academic careers

The Pratt Community College women's soccer team had two sophomores sign to four year schools on scholarship Thursday.

Avery Villines, from Owasso, OK, signed to Harris-Stowe State University in St Louis, Mo. She spent two years with the Lady Beavers and received Second Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honors her freshman year. Villines was named captain her sophomore year. She led the team, finishing the season with 12 points on 17 attempts.

Kenyonique Thompson was a transfer student from Nassau, Bahamas and only spent one year with the Lady Beavers. Coach Ashley Burnett described her as a very technical player who "has fun with ball and is a pleasure to watch."

In her 16 games, Thompson had 17 shots on goal for four points and two assists. She has committed to continue her athletic career at Mount Marty College.

"I am very excited for both of these young ladies furthering their academic and soccer career at four-year schools," Burnett said. "I am very proud of Avery and Ken, and wish them all the best as they continue on!"
