Beavers Ready for Conference Series With Colby

Pratt, Kan.- Pratt Community College (PCC) is set to face the Colby Community College (CCC) Trojans in a Thursday and Saturday four-game series. The Trojans will host Pratt on Thursday, March 23 at Young Memorial Field. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm. The Beavers will then host Colby on Sunday, March 26 at Stanion Field. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm.

Quick Hitters

Beavers looking to bounce back after only picking up one win in the Cloud County series. They won game one of the series 9-3.

Beavers as a team are hitting a .251 average with 63 hits, 25 extra base hits and 2 stolen bases in conference play.

Cason Long is hitting .364 with four hits, one double and two runs. Long did not suit up during the Cloud County series and is scheduled to be back in the lineup this week.

Three Beaver pitchers have a 4.00 ERA or under in conference play. Caleb Cude has one start and two appearances in conference play with a 3.60 ERA and 13 strikeouts. Marcelo Aguirre has made two appearances with a 4.00 ERA. Finally, freshman Joshua Doerr has made two appearances with a 3.38 ERA and five strikeouts.

Mitchell Smith is not only hitting well for the Beavers, but has 22 putouts, 3 assists, and 2 errors in the field to start conference play.

Scouting the Trojans   

For the first time this season Colby is receiving votes in the national poll.

The Trojans split a four-game series against Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) this past weekend. Colby is sitting at 3-1 in conference play as there only KJCCC west series has been against Cloud County.

In that series, the Trojans had a .276 batting average with 32 hits, 25 runs and four homeruns. Leading the Trojans, is Hagen Barcello who averaged .364 with four hits, three runs and one homerun.   

The pitching unit for the Trojans have a combine ERA of 2.20 with 40 strikeouts. In one conference start, Alex Cook had 13 strikeouts, three hits and no runs.
