Beaver Baseball Set for Final Conference Series Against Seward Co.

The Pratt Community College baseball team is preparing to face the Seward County Saints for their last conference series of the season. The Beavers sit in eighth place in the conference standings with a record of 21-30 and a conference record of 6-22 while the Saints sit in sixth place with an overall record of 27-24 and a conference record of 15-13. With the final playoff standings on the line the two first two games will take place in Pratt, Kan. on Thursday, May 2 with the final two games taking place in Liberal, Kan. on Saturday, May 4.  

Leading the Saints in the batter's box is sophomore Trenton Rowan with a .403 hitting average with 48 hits and ten home runs. Freshman Kotaro Wakui is hitting .354 with 34 hits and 26 RBIs. On the mound for the Saints are projected starters Brian Luna Alvarez (4.46 ERA), Tyler Wilcox (5.25 ERA), Trent Gerber (7.85 ERA), and TJ Newman (7.85 ERA). As a pitching staff, the Saints average 6.97 strikeouts per nine innings with an earned run average of 7.24. 

Regardless of this week's series the Beavers have secured a spot in the NJCAA Region IV D! Baseball opening round taking place from May 9-11.
