Beavers knock off Bethel JV

The Pratt Community College men's basketball team posted triple-digits on the scoreboard to earn their way to victory over Bethel College Junior Varsity. The Beavers hosted the Threshers as the second-to-last match of a 7-game home stand. The game ended with a 123-68 final score in favor of the blue and white.

Pratt displayed their ability to rebound the ball in the contest against the Threshers. A 54-22 rebound advantage helped to make the difference on the scoreboard. Forward Demarcus Fisher was a glass eater for the Beavers with a game-high of 15 rebounds, seven of them being offensive. Also grabbing double-digit boards was guard Drew Maschoff with 11. In only 16 minutes of play, forward Elijah Austell gathered six offensive rebounds of his own. The Beavers grabbed 23 offensive rebounds as a team which was more total rebounds than what the Threshers secured all night.

123 points from PCC came by way of prolific ball movement. Of the 47 made field goals for the Beavers, 25 of them were assisted on. Guard Tyler Bourne set the example for his squad with a game-high of seven assists. Closely behind him in terms of sharing the ball was Maschoff with six assists.

Making the extra pass contributed to advantageous scoring opportunities for Pratt. The team field goal percentage tallied up to 56 percent. Coming off the bench to provide a spark was guard Teddy Fifer III, who led all scorers with 29 points. Fifer had a hot hand from the outside. He shot 7-of-12 from downtown and 10-of-16 from the field.

Guard Blake Furcron was not shy when it came to scoring either. Furcron made 10-of-15 baskets on route to a 27-point performance. The guard drew contact on his first three baskets of the night for and-one opportunities. He got to foul line for a total of nine shots against Bethel. He converted on seven of the opportunities.  

PCC is now 6-0 during the start of the 2018 season. Pratt will play one more contest at home before taking on their first competition on the road.

Beaver basketball will be back in action in the Lesh Sports Arena when they challenge Bethany College Junior Varsity on Nov. 17. Tipoff time is set for 7 p.m
