Burns' 51 leads Beavers to first win

EL RENO, Okla.- Following a tough opening weekend in Iowa, the Beavers were in search of a spark.

To that effect, James Burns didn't bring just a lighter. He brought a whole case of dynamite.

The Eastern Arizona College transfer posted an astounding 51 points and 11 rebounds in the Beavers 97-72 win over Redlands Community College, scoring on 23 of his 29 attempts. Burns' double-double was padded by a little bit of everything, including a pair of assists, a steal and a block. Seven of Burns' rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor.

Three other Beavers ended the night in double figures, as Deontae Davis was four of six from the three-point line, finishing the night with 14 points of his own. Davis also managed nine rebounds and three blocks. Jamel Horton was a well-rounded contributor for Pratt, posting a 13-11-7 line off of the bench. Mahamadou Nimaga had his best showing in his still budding collegiate career, scoring 11 points to go with seven rebounds and eight assists.
