Pratt makes big statement, beats #24 Coffeyville 59-55

COFFEYVILLE, Kan.- Following a 31-point loss on the road earlier this week at #23 Cowley County, Pratt was asked to take a bite at yet another ranked conference foe this afternoon. Though as it is for any Beaver, the bigger the tree, the greater the reward.

Pratt rallied from a nine-point second-half deficit to beat the #23 Coffeyville Red Ravens 59-55, the kind of victory that echoes not only through the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, but through the entire country. Catalyzing the win for Pratt was Deontae Davis, whose 21 points was a team-high. Davis did a little bit of everything, shooting three for eight from the three-point line, while snagging seven rebounds to go with four steals. Zool Kueth also ended the afternoon in double-figures, going for 18 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc.

On the road in a raucous gym doing the road team no favors, the Beavers defensed forced the Red Ravens to shoot only 36 percent, as the Beavers also won the rebounding (36-32) and free throw margins.

The Beavers will have a chance to ride this momentum wave on Wednesday, when the Independence Pirates visit the Beaver Dome. Tip-off is tentatively scheduled for 7:30.
