Men's basketball downed 78-55 by Grizzlies

EL DORADO, Kan.- Wednesday night became an even larger pill to swallow for Pratt Community College, as men's basketball was unable to salvage the second game of a doubleheader at Butler, losing 78-55.

Of note, John Long came off the bench to provide a team-high 18 points on 50 percent shooting (6-12). His primary scoring tool was the long ball, connecting on five of eight three-point attempts. Long also reset his career-high in points. Jamel Horton, most recently having scored 25-points in his team's overtime win againt Neosho County on Saturday, had 12 points on 2-13 shooting while making seven of his eight free throw attempts. Julian Eziukwu posted 10 rebounds to go with eight points. Tonight marked the first time Eziukwu eclipsed double-digit rebounds since November 14.

The Beavers had a difficult time finding an offensive rhythm in yet another game with an abundance of whistles. In the midst of an evening with 35 fouls called between the two sides, Coach Flynn's team shot 25 percent from the floor (16-63), and little better from from three-point range (27 percent). The Beavers did not have a two-point basket in the first 20 minutes of play, trailing 37-18 at the halftime break, forcing the group to play catch-up for the remainder of the night.

The loss drops the Beavers to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in KJCCC play. The men will hit the road with the women's team on Saturday for an afternoon showdown in Concordia against Cloud County. The men are scheduled to tip-off at 4 PM.
