Beavers Lose 82-81 Against NWKTC Mavericks

Pratt, Kan. – The Pratt Community College Beavers traveled to Goodland, KS earlier today, November 19 to take on the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Beavers were riding high off their conference opening win against Seward County and having won four straight games.

In tonight's game, Pratt took an early lead and then skidded being stuck at seven points from the 17:12 mark until the 11:53 mark of the first half. The Beavers did manage to make up for their scoring drought by pulling within one point with 1:43 left in the half. The Mavericks took a 41-37 lead into the locker room at half.

Halfway through the second half, Northwest Tech held a ten-point lead 66-56 over the Beavers. Pratt pulled it within four points twice as the final two minutes of the game winded down. Freshman Chidiebere Obichere made a three-point bucket as time expired, but unfortunately Northwest Tech held on to win 82-81.

Obichere lead the team with 23 points while Jaylen Davis (13 points) was the only other Beaver with double digit points. The Beavers outrebounded the Mavericks 29 to 26 with Quintin Metcalf (8 rebounds) leading the team.

The Beavers will host the #4 Hutchison Community College Blue Dragons for a pre-Thanksgiving matchup on Tuesday, November 22. Pratt has defended home court the past three seasons against the Blue Dragons. Game time is set for 7:30 pm in the Beaver Dome.
