Pratt Hosts Seward County in Region VI Playoffs

The Beaver men's basketball team is set to host the Seward Couty Saints in the first round of the NJCAA Region VI playoffs on March 4. They will face the Saints for the third time this year with the two previous times resulting in a Beaver win. Pratt finished in the top eight in the KJCCC conference and therefore was granted a home playoff game to start the postseason.

"You can't complain about finishing in the top eight in this league", said Head Men's Basketball Coach Kenny Eddy. "We have had nine different teams in the league ranked in the top 25 throughout the year and so finishing the top eight is one of the best finishes in the past few years."

The Beavers finished the regular season 16-13 overall and 13-11 in conference play. They finished regular season play on March 1 at Cowley and won by a single point in the last seconds of the game 80-79. Seward finished 13-17 overall and 9-15 in conference play. They enter the playoffs after losing to Coffeyville on January 25 94-68.

"It's a blank state once playoffs start," said Coach Eddy. "Seward plays incredibly hard and Coach Hernandez does a great job with getting his guys going and they play as hard as anyone in the league does. Because of that when it comes to playoff basketball, they are going to give themselves plenty of opportunities to win basketball games. We must be ready for anything they throw at us.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm in the Beaver Dome. The winner will advance to the second round on Tuesday, March 7 at Coffeyville.
