PCC men’s soccer hosts Rose State College for season opener

The Pratt Community College men's soccer team hosted Rose State College to begin regular season play. Both teams displayed a high-intensity offense by combining to score multiple goals each half. PCC managed to score two goals during the day, but it was not enough to keep Rose State at bay. Pratt suffered a defeat to Rose State 2-3.

On the offensive end the Beavers were led by midfielder Francesco D'Aulerio who was the lone goal scorer for Pratt. After trailing for a significant amount of time in the first period, Pratt made a fantastic offense run at the opposing goal. At the center of the offense was D'Aulerio who managed to find his way into the 18-yard box and get fouled. This resulted in a penalty kick that D'Aulerio capitalized on.

Pratt held a brief lead through the second half after midfielder/forward Joe Brett sent a ball that ended up at the feet of D'Aulerio who scored his second goal of the day. Pratt's lead was short lived however. Rose State managed to find the back of the net 2 more times during the last 35 minutes.

"I'm fairly pleased with the overall performance for our first regular game, however, sloppy defensive hurt us, and we must improve in that area," said head coach Kevin Kewley.

PCC men's soccer takes on Colorado Northwestern Community college next on Aug. 26. The contest will start at 12 p.m.
