PCC men's soccer secures their first win of the season

The Pratt Community College men's soccer team battled against Northwestern Colorado Community College in an early-season home match-up. The contest marked the second home field advantage the Beavers had this season. PCC converted the home field energy into winning figures on the scoreboard. Pratt was able to shut out Northwestern Colorado 2-0.

The blue and white back line was able to hold the opposition to limited shot numbers in both halves.  The combination of speed and athleticism on Pratt's defensive end proved to be too much for Northwestern Colorado.

As the game went on, Northwestern Colorado began to get overwhelmed by the continuous amount of offense from the Beavers. A mishandle from the goalkeeper birthed the perfect scoring opportunity for defender Rhys Farrow-Blance, who was able to knock in his first goal of the season. Pratt's offensive momentum did not only come from the mistakes of the opponent. Several players found the opportunity to take aggressive shots on goal. Many players took a different role to get points on the board, such as, midfielder/forward Andrea Migliozzi who sent in an opportune ball to teammate Joe Brett. Brett used the situation to score and help secure a win for PCC.

"It was a much better all-around performance today, and the guys are starting to understand exactly what I need from them. The effort was excellent, but we still need to improve on the mental aspect of our system," said head coach Kevin Kewley.

PCC men's soccer will take on their first away game against Coffeyville Community College on Aug. 31. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
