PCC men’s soccer suffers loss to Dodge City at home

The Pratt Community College men's soccer team hosted Dodge City Community College for a home conference match. The Beavers came in to the match after a hard fought conference bout against Garden City Community College. PCC's first home conference game ended with a 2-0 loss.

Pratt was forced to compete from behind for a majority of the game. An early goal by Dodge put the Conquistadors in good standing for the rest of the match.

Defensively the Beavers had a noticeable energy to try and keep their team close to a winning chance. Defender Adam Ward made several critical tackles that took away scoring opportunities from Dodge. Goalkeeper Clayton Scott continued to play in net for the Beavers while sophomore Scott Clark relinquished his goalkeeper jersey for a chance to play alongside the backline. Scott had a game high of 12 saves for the Beavers.

Midway through the first half Pratt allowed another goal. Dodge took advantage of the 2-0 lead most of the game by putting more men back on the defensive end. Pratt came up with 5 shots on target but did not convert any into a score. PCC held the Conquistadors scoreless in the second period but were also unable to find a goal themselves. This resulted in a final score of 2-0 in favor of Dodge City.

PCC men's soccer continues conference play against Garden City Community College on Sep. 12. The contest is scheduled at 4 p.m.
