Men's soccer earns clean sheet in win against conference opponent Northwest Kansas Technical

The Pratt Community College men's soccer team earned their first win against a conference opponent while hosting Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Beavers were able to win the match and hold a clean sheet during the ninety minutes of play. Pratt defeated the Mavericks of Northwest Technical 2-0.

The Beavers wasted no time scoring goals. Pratt gained the edge by scoring two goals in the first eighteen minutes.

Freshman Forward Joe Brett found himself onside when a ball that was being headed in the midfield drifted toward the opponent goal. Brett outpaced the opposing back line and finessed a ground ball in the back right corner of the goal for the first numbers of the day.

PCC did not settle after gaining an advantage with the first goal. Andrea Migliozzi sent a cross in to the box from a corner set piece that helped to give Pratt the second goal of the day. The ball was put in by freshman defender Rhys Farrow-Blance. Blance leads the Beavers in goals on the season with a team-high of four.

Farrow-Blance also made a notable defensive performance as did many PCC players. Pratt maintained a clean sheet in the game. Sophomore Scott Clark returned to the goal keeper position after spending the previous two games on the field. Clark helped to contribute to the clean sheet with six saves.

"Our team defense was so much better than the previous two games, and that is the key to any success we will have in the future," said head coach Kevin Kewley.

PCC men's soccer kicks off next against formerly ranked Barton County Community College. The game is set for 4 p.m. on Sep. 19.
