Beaver Softball Wrap-up Their Season
Pratt, Kan.- The Pratt Community College (PCC) Beaver softball season has come to an end. The team wrapped up their season with a two-game series this past Saturday, April 30 against Hutchinson Community College (HCC). The Beavers lost both games 15-2 and 22-0. They finished their season with a 3-35 overall record and a 1-31 conference record. All three wins came at home.

“The record didn’t look great… it was a tough year, but fun year,” said Head Coach Ryan Anderson. “I came into a new situation where I didn’t know any of the players, but to see their growth from where we started in September to when the season started in February to now were all huge leaps and bounds. Especially in the last four to five weeks of the season things started clicking so from that side it was great to see.”

The Beavers picked up wins against Central Christian College (JV), North Platte Community College (NPCC), and Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC). The team came one win short of making the NJCAA Region VI tournament this season as they finished ninth overall in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) West.

At this time, the team will have nine returning players next season who will look to build off the growth of this season. The team hopes to utilize the experience of the returners and pair it with a new group of freshman to continue to building a winning program.

“Expectation wise I want to go out and compete every game and I want them to have that expectation,” said Coach Anderson. “Yes, we are going to get beat, yes there are going to be games we shouldn’t have lost, but we can still keep going and keep staying after it.”
