Lady Beavers defend the dome against Cowley

Pratt Community College women's basketball triumphed over Jayhawk Conference foe Cowley College for the first time in the in their last nine meetings. PCC hosted the Tigers in their first home conference contest of the 2018-19 season. The Beavers controlled the score for the entire game, ending the match with a final score of 82-66.

The busy Beavers helped to force Cowley's season-high of 31 turnovers, including 10 in just the first quarter. Seventeen points off of turnovers during the first 20 minutes of play guided the way for a Pratt lead at the end of the first half, 34-22.

Pratt had five players in double figures, including forward Rylee Alexander who led all scorers in the game with 18 points. Alexander was also the most tenacious on the glass for her team with eight rebounds.

Cowley held a premature lead as they were able to sink two shots from distance to give themselves an 8-6 advantage. The Beavers then went unchecked to earn 10 more points before the Tigers could score again. After a short run, PCC continued to hold the lead for the remainder of the game. A third-quarter 56-48 score in favor of the blue and white marked the closest that Cowley ever came to tying the numbers on the scoreboard.  

Pratt women's basketball will look to continue their winning streak in conference when they host Coffeyville Community College on Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.
