Women's Basketball Set to Battle #10 Butler Grizzlies

Pratt, Kan. – The Beavers will take a post-Thanksgiving road trip to El Dorado, KS to face the Butler Community College Grizzles. 

On The Air

Saturday's game can be heard on KMMM 1290 with Austin McNorton calling the action. McNorton is in his first year as voice of the Beavers. The game will be streamed on butlergrizzlies.com.

Last Time Out

On Tuesday night the women's basketball team traveled to Hutch to face the #21 Blue Dragons. The game started quickly for Hutch as they went up 27-11 in the 1st quarter. The Beavers came fighting back and lead the next three quarters. At half the Blue Dragons lead by ten 37-27. In the second half the Beavers got it within two points but ended up losing 64-57.

Scouting the Grizzlies

The #10 Grizzlies are 8-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They have defeated Colby, Seward County, and Northwest Tech in conference play thus far. They average 88.5 points, 40.9 rebounds, and 19.6 assists per game.

Leading scorer for the Grizzlies in junior guard MeKayla Furman with 12.4 points a game. Two other players score over 10 points a game for Butler with Ashlei Kirven averaging 12.1 and Kaylee Nero with 11.1. Kirven leads the team with 7.4 rebounds a game. Butler only allows opponents 56.4 points a game and are 4-0 in the Power Plant.

Last Season vs. Grizzlies

Last season the Beavers only faced Butler once at home which resulted in a loss 67-47.

Young Finding Her Role

Freshman guard Destiny Young broke through with 11 points on Tuesday night. Young is averaging 15.9 minutes per game and 6.9 points per game. She continues to be a much-needed role player coming off the bench.

Daniels with a Double-Double

Sophomore guard/forward Chariah Daniels continues her dominance with a double-double on Tuesday night. Daniels put up 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Beavers. This season she is averaging 11.1 points and 9.1 rebounds a game.

The Beavers will take a much-needed break and will not be back in action until Saturday, December 4th on the road against Cloud County.
