Beaver Women's Basketball Battled to End Against Seward

As the conference schedule reset the Beavers prepared to do battle against the Saints on January 18. Seward won game one of the series 87-67 back on November 16. Both teams entered the evenings contest coming off losses on Saturday, January 14. Pratt lost at home against Cowley while Seward lost at home against Coffeyville.  

The first eight minutes of the game was back-and-forth, neither team having much of an advantage. With 1:56 left in the first quarter the Saints were able to start pulling away and lead 24-15 to end the quarter. The Beavers responded in the second quarter by outscoring Seward 23-21 while pulling within six points 40-34 with 1:06 to go in the quarter. The Saints lead at halftime 45-38.  

The Beavers also outscored the Saints in the third quarter 28-27 and pulled within three points 61-59 with 3:13 left in the quarter. A few seconds later the Beavers pulled within 2 points 63-61. The Saints went on a small run to end the quarter up 72-66. The fourth quarter was also extremely competitive with Seward only having a three-point advantage 23-20 in the quarter. With eight minutes left to go in the game the Saints would pull ahead and lead 81-71. Pratt would be able to pull within five points 91-86 with 2:23 left. Seward responded and won the game 95-86.  

Kansas Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week Princess Anderson lead the team with 38 points in just 32 minutes of play. Emily Acton had 16 points while Macy Hanzlick had 14. Freshman Isis Sanders played all 40 minutes of the game and finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Pratt only turned the ball over 14 times compared to their opponent who had 21 turnovers. That in turn lead to 19 points from the Beavers.  

Pratt will host Northwest Technical College on Saturday, January 21. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
