PCC women’s soccer comes up short against Dodge City

The Pratt Community College women's soccer team hosted Dodge City Community College in their first home conference game. Pratt looked to capitalize on their home field advantage during a windy day at the Beaver pitch. Pratt had many scoring opportunities but fell short in the end. Dodge City defeated Pratt 3-0.

Goalkeeper Maria Camacho took on the duty of defending the net for the entire contest. Camacho finished with a miraculous 11 saves, but it was not enough to keep Dodge City at bay. PCC held Dodge to a single goal during the first half but was not able to score themselves.

During the second half Pratt allowed 2 more goals. Several individuals from PCC took aggressive shots on goal, but they did not manage to find the back of the net. Forward Quemberli Merida came in to the game as a substitute and led the team with 3 shots on target. Pratt's scoring woes ultimately allowed Dodge City to pull away in the end.

PCC women's soccer kicks off next against Cloud County Community College on Sep. 12. Start time is listed at 2 p.m.
