PCC volleyball plays in the North Lake/Cedar Valley tournament

The Pratt Community College volleyball team competed in a tournament style competition that took place in multiple Texas cities. The two-day long competition began with match-ups in Irving, Texas. During the first day of action the Beavers faced Seminole State College in a 4-set game. PCC came away with a loss to Seminole 1-3 (20-25; 16-25; 25-15; 21-25). PCC continued competition by falling short in a 5-set standoff with Cedar Valley College 2-3 (24-26; 21-25; 25-22; 25-15; 14-16). The tournament moved to Lancaster, Texas during day two. PCC faced two opponents in the new location. Pratt played Richland College to begin the day. The Beavers were able to draw up their first win of the tournament against Richland 3-0 (25-19; 25-22; 25-14). The blue and white finished the tournament against North Lake College. Pratt managed to sweep North Lake for a final score of 3-0 (25-18; 25-23; 25-22).

PCC came up without a win during the first day of the North Lake/Cedar Valley tournament but did not go down without a fight. The Beavers managed to take a set away from Seminole State in their first game loss. Two of the three sets that Pratt lost were within a 5-point spread. During set 3 PCC dominated Seminole on the scoreboard 25-15. Pratt's defense was able to hold their opponent to 4 kills during the entire third set. However, these highlights were not enough to earn a victory.

Pratt was only 2 points away from winning the match against Cedar Valley. The game went 5 sets and was decided by a score of 16-14 in the fifth. Pratt entered the final set with momentum from a dominate set 4 performance. PCC blew out Cedar Valley 25-15 in set 4. Unfortunately for the Beavers, this performance did not help to accomplish a win.

Pratt went undefeated during the second day of the tournament. Richland proved to be no match for the blue and white. Pratt took the victory over Richland in straight sets. During set 3 PCC did not have a single hitting error which helped to contribute to a 25-14 victory. PCC finished the tournament by sweeping North Lake as well. The Beavers scored 16 kills to give themselves the edge in set 3.

PCC volleyball looks to continue their winning streak against Bethany College Junior Varsity on Sep. 10. The start of the contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
