Hessman, Baranco tabbed All-Conference

Pratt Community College freshmen Olivia Hessman and Elise Baranco have been awarded All-Conference Team honors for the 2018 season by the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. Hessman, a setter, was awarded Second Team All-Conference. Baranco, a middle blocker was named as an All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Hessman finished the year with 622 assists with 299 of them coming against opponents in conference. She was also one of the most dominant point scorers for her team. While occasionally playing the opposite hitter position, the freshman was the team's third-highest leader in kills with 171.

"I wasn't expecting this at all," said Hessman. "We have ridiculously talented setters in this conference, so it's an honor to be named among them."

One-of-two players who was able to top Hessman in kills was Baranco, who put away 244 balls. Baranco also led the team in hitting percentage (.258) and kills per set (2.07). When facing opponents in conference, Baranco was able to earn 116 kills for her team. She led the Beavers in kills (244) during 2018 as well. She also posted 124 blocks which was a team-high for the Beavers.

"Being name as an All-Conference Honorable Mention motivates me to play even harder next year. I want to thank my coaches for pushing me forward and my team for being there for me," said Baranco.
