Kenyawani named Female Conference Runner of the Week

Pratt Community College sophomore Aminata Kenyawani was named the KJCCC Female Runner of the Week. Efforts at the Emporia State University Cross Country Invitational earned Kenyawani the award. She was awarded this honor for week six of the 2018 cross country season.

While at Emporia, the sophomore athlete posted a time of 19:49.0 in the women's 5K race. She finished as the best performing junior college female athlete at the competition.

Kenyawani was also recognized as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Junior College Female Athlete of the Week earlier in the year for her performance at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic.

The second-year runner has consistently been the top-performing member of her team during every meet the Beavers have competed in this season. She has helped lead the Lady Beavers to a No. 16 national ranking.

"Being recognized as runner of the week just shows how much practice is paying off each week. It is a nice gesture and keeps her motivated to be better," said Head Cross Country Coach Eric Larson.

PCC cross country will compete next at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open on Oct. 13. The first race will begin at 9 a.m.
