After the resignation of Steven Kenner, an immediate search began to find the next head coach of the women’s basketball program. With the vacancy less than two weeks old, Pratt Community College has appointed Eric Rodewald to the position.

Rodewald comes to campus most recently serving at Wayland Baptist University as a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Flying Queens. He brings with him over 20 years of coaching experience that includes stops at Southeast Community College, Howard College, and Frank Phillips College.

“It is exciting to be fortunate enough to have the opportunity to come to Pratt and be a Beaver,” said Rodewald. “I look forward to the opportunity to get closer to home and work on a great campus which is located in an amazing community.”

Coach Rodewald spent 13 seasons as head women’s basketball coach at Frank Philips College in Borger, TX. In 2018, the Plainsmen finished conference runner-up, earned a #11 national ranking while compiling a 23-6 record. During that season, the team finished 6th in the nation with a team GPA of 3.36. In his last season at Howard College in 2008 the team finished with a record of 25-7 and had five NJCAA Academic All Americans. He started his junior college coaching career at Southeast Community College as the assistant women’s basketball coach. During his two-year tenure there, success included winning more games in a season and earning a regional tournament victory both of which hadn’t happened in over a decade.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Rodewald join the Beaver family! His past experiences at junior colleges plus his success will make him a great fit, said Athletic Director Tim Swartzendruber. “We are fortunate to find someone of his caliber at this point in time. We have a great group of returning women and Coach Rodewald will make us competitive immediately.”

As noted previously Coach Rodewald brings over 20 years of coaching including more than 250 wins at the junior college, high school, and AAU levels as both a head and assistant coach. He values academics and has coached over 50 NJCAA Academic All-Americans and in the past ten years his teams had better then a 3.0 team GPA.
