Beavers Take Season Sweep over Seward

The Beaver men's basketball team traveled to Liberal, KS on Wednesday, January 18. Pratt entered the contest having beaten Cowley College on January 14. On the other side, Seward County entered the game coming off a win over Coffeyville. Both teams meet back on November 16 in the Beaver Dome where Pratt won 97-89. 

It was all Pratt to start the first half as they managed to build a 25-14 lead with 12:32 remaining in the half. Pratt continued to lead at the 9:44 mark 31-20. Seward did manage to go on a run in the later part of the half and got within three 39-37 with 3:51 left. With 1:16 left Seward had pulled within one 45-44. Pratt was able to answer and go into the locker room up 49-46.  

Seward quickly took the lead in the second half and maintained it for the first four minutes of the half. The Beavers tied the game at 53-53 with 16:15 left. For the next six minutes the game was back-and-forth with both teams holding the lead. With just under ten minutes left, the Saints lead 61-59. A minute later, Pratt was able to retake the lead 64-63. Seward would take the lead back one last time 65-64 with 8:48 left. The Beavers took the lead right back and rolled to a 85-76 win.  

Chidiebere Obichere made his presence known with 29 points and six rebounds. Sterling Young had 19 points in the game including two three-point baskets. Finally, DJ Bailey had 13 points coming off the bench for Pratt. The Beavers outrebounded the Saints 50-46 and scored 46 points in the paint.  

Pratt will host Northwest Tech on Saturday, January 21. Tip is set for 4:00 pm in the Beaver Dome.
