Beavers End Win Streak on Road at Butler

The Beaver men's basketball team headed to El Dorado this afternoon, January 28 to face the Butler Grizzlies. Pratt entered the game on a four-game winning streak. The Grizzlies got beat on the road to Northwest Tech on Wednesday, January 25.  

The first ten minutes of play were very even with Butler only leading by three points 20-17 with 9:14 left in the half. The second ten minutes of play was more of the same as the Grizzlies pulled ahead by ten 38-28 at halftime. The Beavers held two leads early in the game and there were two ties early in the half too. Coming out of the locker room, Pratt managed to pull within five 38-33 with 17:38 left. A few minutes later the Grizzlies pulled ahead by ten again. With 3:05 left to go in the game Pratt had yet again pulled the lead closer and now was down 70-64. After two Pratt turnovers, Butler managed to pull ahead by ten points again and rolled to a 80-69 win.  

Sterling Young finished the game with 23 points while Jaylen Davis was the only other Beaver to score double digits with 11 points. Quintin Metcalf finished the game with 13 rebounds. The battle of the boards was close with Butler taking the 35-33 advantage. Pratt turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 19 points for the Grizzlies.  

Pratt will take the next week off and prepare to get back in the win column as they will face Cloud County next Saturday, February 4. Tip is set for 4:00 pm.
