Beavers Struggles Continue Against Blue Dragons and Conquistadors

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) Beaver softball team was in action this weekend against two different Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) opponents. The Beavers traveled to Hutchinson, KS on Saturday, March 26 to face the Hutchinson Community College (HCC) Blue Dragons in a two-game series. They returned home to Angood Field on Sunday, March 27 to take on the Conquistadors from Dodge City Community College (DCCC)

The Beavers will only have a day to rest and prepare as Colby Community College comes to town tomorrow, March 29 for a two-game series at Angood Field.  

Game One at Hutchinson

Through two innings, both teams had only two hits and no runs. The Blue Dragons broke through in the bottom of the third inning 2-0. They added one run in the bottom of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fifth, Hutch brought across two more runners of a two-run home run. The Blue Dragons won game one 8-0 by adding three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Beavers were held hitless after the first inning with only one walk in the third inning.  

Game Two at Hutchinson

The Beavers started game two by keeping Hutch hitless through the first two innings. In the bottom of the third, the Blue Dragons brought across seven runs. Hutch added two more runs in the next half inning and held on to win 9-0 in five innings. Pratt had one hit and one error in the game.

Game One vs. Dodge City

The Conquistadors opened game one with five runs in the top of the first inning. The Beavers responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the second. Dodge City responded with nine more runs in the top of the third inning. Pratt added a run in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. Dodge City won game one 24-3 by adding three runs in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth.

Game Two vs. Dodge City

Dodge City brought across 17 straight runs in the first four innings of game two. Ten of those runs came in the top of the fourth inning. The Beavers added three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but lost game two 17-3. The Conquistadors had 17 hits in the game.
