Pratt Softball Wins First Conference Game

Pratt, Kan. – The Pratt Community College (PCC) Beavers hosted the Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC) Mavericks at the Green Sports Complex on Wednesday, April 13. The Beavers played away from Angood Field for the second time this season due to weather conditions. Northwest Tech entered the afternoon with only two conference wins coming against Pratt.

The Beavers will travel to Garden City next Wednesday, April 20th to take on the Broncbusters in a two-game series.  

Game One vs. Northwest Tech

The Mavericks kicked open game one with a two-run homer. They also brought across an additional run on a wild pitch. Pratt responded in the bottom of the second inning with a double by sophomore Morgan Pitts. The Beavers brought across four runs in the inning off of three hits and a sacrifice fly. In the top of the third, Northwest Tech took their lead back with two runs off of two hits and an error. In the forth inning, the Mavericks took a 6-4 lead off a sacrifice fly. They added two more runs in the fifth inning. Northwest Tech held a 10-4 lead in the sixth inning off a home run and stolen base. Pratt came back rolling in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game 10-10. In the top of the seventh inning, the Mavericks brought across two runs off an error and a double. After four straight singles, the Beavers pulled it within one run, but could not take advantage of the bases loaded and lost game one 12-11.

Game Two vs. Northwest Tech

Northwest Tech struck first in game two by putting up a run in the first inning. The Beavers took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the inning off of four hits and a sacrifice fly. Pratt added five more runs in the second inning off a triple by Miranda Wilson. Wilson added to her day by hitting a three-run homer in third inning. The Beavers added two more runs in the fourth inning off a double by Brooklyn Humble. The Beavers held the Mavericks scoreless after the first inning and won the game 13-1 in five innings. This victory was the Beavers first conference win this season.
