Women's Basketball Picks up First Conference Win

Pratt, Kan.- The women's basketball team was back in action Saturday afternoon against the Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC) Mavericks. It was a great afternoon for Head Coach Eric Rodewald and the women's basketball program as they picked up their first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) win 70-48 over the Mavs. 

"It was nice to get a home and conference win," said head coach Eric Rodewald. "Over the past week the team has shown improvement and did a good job finishing the game on Saturday." 

Sophomore guard Cassie Onwugbufor lead the Beavers with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. It was the breakout game Onwugbufor has been looking for as she kicks off her 2nd season in the KJCCC. Leading scorer for the Beavers this season, sophomore guard/forward Chariah Daniels had 15 points and lead the team with 12 rebounds. To round out the stat sheet sophomore guard/forward Karolina Juresiute had 12 points and 9 rebounds with sophomore guard/forward Christy Wiebe scoring in the double digits for the first time this season with 10 points. 

For the Mavericks sophomore Moniek Meeringa lead the team with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomores Natalie Lara had 12 poings and Alonna Harvey-Williams had 10 points. 

The Beavers have a quick turnaround this week as they will travel to Hutchinson to take on the Blue Dragons on Tuesday, November 23rd. The game will tip at 5:30 pm. Stay tuned to gobeaversports.com and social media for a preview of tomorrow's game.
