Beavers Lose Heartbreaker in Garden City

Garden City, Kan.– The Pratt Community College (PCC) Women's Basketball team lost a heart breaker on Valentine's Day, falling 47-to-43 at Garden City Community College (GCCC). Sophomore point guard Cassie Onwugbufor (Maize, Kan.) led Pratt Community College in scoring with 13 points, five assists, and two steals. Sophomore shooting guard Christy Wiebe (Copeland, Kan.) contributed nine points. The Beavers led 26-to-22 at halftime, but were outscored in the second half 25-17, failing to make a field goal in the last three minutes of the game. Also scoring for the Beavers were Sophomores Chariah Daniels (Wichita) and Lianna Washington (Sawyer, Kan.) scoring six points each and freshman Ruth Sodipe (El Paso, Tex.) with seven points. Sophomore Karolina Juresiute (Lithuiana) had a 2-point basket.

Pratt shot 45.5 percent from beyond the arc for the Beavers' most efficient game from 3-point range, going 5-for-11. Onwugbufor was 3-for-5 and Washington shot 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. The Beavers struggled from the free throw line converting 6-of-13 charity tosses. Daniels cleaned the glass for a game high 10 rebounds and dished out four assists.

The Beavers return home Wednesday, February 16 versus Coffeyville Community College at 5:30 p.m. The game is the Beavers "Think Pink Night."
