Beavers Take Barton to Five Sets in Beaver Dome

Pratt, Kan. - Pratt Community College hosted the Barton Community College Cougars on Monday, October 3rd for a conference matchup in front of a packed Beaver Dome. The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead after winning set one 25-15. Pratt came swinging back and took set two with a 27-25 victory. It was all Beavers in the third set as they held onto a resounding lead all the way until the end with a 25-17 victory. Barton came back in the fourth and won 25-11 to tie the match 2-2. Unfortunately, it was all Cougars in the fifth set as the Beavers were unable to score double digit points and lost the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.

"I think we played great and we played as a team," said sophomore Brooke Tholen. "We used the crowd's atmosphere to our advantage and really took it to them in the second and third set."

The Beavers will make a quick turn around as they host Colby Community College on Wednesday, October 5. The match is set for 6:30 pm in the Beaver Dome. Last time out against the Trojans, Pratt was unable to get anything started on offense dropping the match 3-0 (12-25, 8-25, 12-25).

"I am ready to prove ourselves in every aspect of the game offensively and defensively and I am ready to take it to them," said Tholen.
