Colby Sweeps the Beavers in a Four Game Series

Pratt, Kan.- The Pratt Community College (PCC) Beavers finished up a four-game series on Saturday, March 26 with the Trojans of Colby Community College (CCC). The Beavers traveled to Colby, KS for the first two games of the series on Thursday, March 24. They hosted the Trojans on Saturday at Stanion Field.

Pratt will begin a four-game series with Johnson County Community College (JCCC) on Thursday, March 31 at Stanion Field.

Game One

Colby struck first with a run in the bottom half of inning one. Pratt responded in the top of the second to tie it 1-1. The Trojans pulled ahead 5-1 after adding five runs in the bottom of the third inning. They added an addition run in the forth and two more runs in the fifth innings. The Trojans took game one by a score of 11-1. The Beavers ended game one with three hits and one error.

Game Two

Pratt wasted no time starting game two out with five runs. However, the Trojans came back in the bottom half of the second inning to take the lead 7-5. In the fourth inning, Pratt brought across two runs to tie the game. Colby was able to retake the lead in the bottom half of the inning with eight more runs. In the top of the sixth inning, the Beavers brought across another run. In the bottom half of the seventh inning, the Trojans grew their lead to 16-8. The Beavers responded with seven of their own runs in the eighth and ninth innings combined. The Trojans won game two with a score of 17-15. Pratt had 15 hits and two errors.

Game Three

The Beavers got things started on Saturday, March 26 with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Both teams scored in the fourth inning and Colby tied it 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Trojans brought across the winning run in the top of the ninth to win game three 3-2. The Beavers had eight hits with no errors.

Game Four

In the final game of the series, the Trojans struck first with two runs in the top of the first. Pratt added their own run in the bottom of the second. Both teams scored a run in the third for a 3-2 Colby lead. In the top of the fifth inning the Trojans grew their lead by one run. Pratt scored a run in both the sixth and seventh innings. The Trojans added six runs in the sixth inning to win the game 10-4. The Beavers had six hits with no errors.
