Baseball Makes Improvements On and Off The Field

If you have driven by Stanion Field lately, you may have noticed the outfield fence is missing and tractors and other equipment were on the field throughout December. The dirt work completed in December was to prepare Stanion Field for turf. In about three to four weeks, the field will undergo another transformation into a complete turf field. This Stanion Field renovation project was funded through a private donation.

“This is a program changing type of project. The ability to use this throughout the year for practice and workouts without the worry of damaging our surface at all is a game changer,” said head baseball coach Todd Reller. “It should allow us to handle the drastic changes of weather that we get here much easier as well. I know us coaches, our players, and our school are all excited to see the final product here soon!”

Off the field, the Beavers were honored with their third straight ABCA team excellence award. The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) team excellence award honors high school and college programs coach by ABCA members that post a cumulative grade point average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, Pratt was also recognized as a NJCAA All-Academic Team with a cumulative grade point average of 3.28.

“The ABCA Team Excellence Award is something that we take pride in every year. We want our program to be more than just baseball and putting our best foot forward academically is a huge piece of that,” said coach Reller. “We have pushed our guys each year to strive for a higher GPA and last year’s group did that exceptionally. It makes a coach very proud to see them get recognized for everything they accomplished in the classroom.”
