Esports Facility Upgraded with Six New Computers

Pratt Community College (PCC) is making strides in the world of competitive gaming with the recent addition of six brand new computers for their Esports team. This exciting development has provided a significant boost to the team's training and competitive capabilities.

Esports, or electronic sports, has emerged as a rapidly growing industry, with professional players competing in popular games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Call of Duty, and Overwatch 2. Recognizing the potential of this industry, PCC established its own Esports team a few years ago, and it has been steadily gaining recognition and success ever since.

The addition of these six new computers is a testament to the college's commitment to supporting its Esports program and its players. The upgraded facility will provide a more immersive and efficient training environment, allowing team members to sharpen their skills and compete at a higher level.

With the new computers, the PCC Esports team can now take advantage of cutting-edge technology, including faster processors, enhanced graphics cards, and improved network capabilities. These features are crucial for competitive gaming, as they ensure smooth gameplay and reduce latency, giving players a competitive edge.

“I want to thank the college administration and especially athletic director Tim Swartzendruber for supporting this endeavor as we continue to grow our program,” said Head Esports Coach Charles Keefer. “The team is excited to come back in a month and see the updated lab and get ready for the fall season. The student athletes appreciate the upgrades and the support our program receives.”

In addition to the enhanced gaming experience, the new computers also provide opportunities for academic growth. PCC offers scholarships to Esports players, and with the improved facilities, students can now pursue degrees in fields related to gaming and technology. This move aligns with the college's focus on providing students with relevant and innovative educational opportunities.

The new computers are not only a boon for the Esports team but also for the PCC community as a whole. The college now has the ability to host local gaming events and tournaments, inviting other schools and the community to participate. This initiative aims to foster a sense of community and promote Esports as a legitimate and inclusive form of competition.

Furthermore, the addition of new computers sends a strong message to prospective students interested in gaming and Esports. It demonstrates that PCC recognizes the growing importance of this industry and is committed to providing resources and support to students interested in pursuing a career in gaming, whether as players, coaches, or industry professionals.
