Men's Soccer Ready to Start Conference Play

Pratt, Kan. – The Pratt Community College (PCC) men's soccer team is preparing to kick off Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play tonight, September 14 against the Storm of Southeast Community College. The Storm are currently receiving votes in the national poll and are currently 5-2-1 this season. The match is set for 6:00 pm at the Pratt Soccer Complex.

"They are going to be very competitive this year," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Kevin Kewley. "Last year they gave us quite the scare at their place by beating us, but we were able to take care of them down here. I expect them to be an improved team from last year as they were fighting for a playoff spot. We have to be on top of our game to win."

The Beavers wrapped up their non-conference schedule this past Saturday, September 11 on the road against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU). The game ended in a 1-1 tie. Due to the new NCAA rule regarding overtime play in regular season games there was no overtime played. Prior to that game, the team took a 2-1 victory over the Broncbusters of Garden City Community College (GCCC). The Beavers are 2-1-2 entering KJCCC play having won both games on the road.

"I think is has gone really good actually as we have shown improvement every game," said Coach Kewley. "It is exactly what I wanted from these games. We are able to find more out about the guys and they were able to find out about me and what I want. It has gone quite well
