Men's Tennis Finishes Tenth at NJCAA Championships

The Beaver men's tennis team wrapped up their season finishing 10th at the NJCAA Men's Tennis Championships with 19 team points. The #1 doubles team of Dante Despontin and Gabriel Cuenca fell short of the consolation championship losing 9-8 in the semi-finals.

"It was a long and wet trip, but in general it was good. We performed to standards, with the draws, some draws were a lot tougher than the others," said Head Tennis Coach Jeret Johnson. "#1 doubles and some of the single draws were tough over here but very doable to say the least. Overall, it was successful, but we could have had a couple more matches go our way."

The team finished their season with a 9-11 overall record. The team finished runner-up in regular season KJCCC play and third at the NJCAA Region VI Tournament. The team defeated Jacksonville College, Barton, Messa twice, Paradise Valley, Seward County, Friends University, and Concordia University (NE).

"The season was good; we are still growing and moving in the right direction," said Coach Jeret. "The sophomores will be missed next year, the leadership they had was big and especially important and our first-year students have absolutely learned a lot this year and hopefully we will continue our success. I know the program is heading the right direction."
