Beavers Sweep Lamar For Second Straight Series Sweep

The Beaver softball team played their final tune-up games on Sunday, Feb. 26 against Lamar Community College before opening conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Hutchinson, Kan. Games against Lamar took place at Angood Field and began at 2:00 pm. The Beavers picked up their second straight two-game sweep of the season against Lamar.  

Game One Recap

Lamar got off to a quick start, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second. However, Pratt responded in the second inning with three runs, and added additional runs with a big third inning, scoring four to take the lead. Lamar scored their final two runs in the fourth inning as the Beavers added another run in the sixth inning to secure the 8-6 victory.  

Pratt's offense was led by Gabbi Everitt, who had a standout performance with three RBIs, including a home run. Elysia Marquez also contributed with an RBI, while Yolanda Aguirre and Naveya Gardner each added two RBIs.  

Game Two Recap  

Pratt displayed a strong offensive performance, recording 15 hits and scoring runs in multiple innings to secure the sweep against Lamar 12-4. Sophomore Aspen DeFrain had a solid outing, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8 batters in 5 innings. Pratt's Lucy Davis had a standout performance at the plate, driving in 3 runs. Emily Hornback and Kylie Wardlow also contributed offensively, each recording 2 RBIs.

The Beavers will open conference play on the road against the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Games get underway at 2:00 p.m.
