Women's Basketball Drops a Close Season Ending Game at Seward County

The Pratt Community College women's basketball team ended its season with a loss in the opening round of the NJCAA region six tournament on Saturday, Mar. 9 against Seward County.  

Seward Co. Game Recap 

Seward County Community College emerged victorious over Pratt Community College with a final score of 56-50. The Beavers started off strong, taking a 13-6 lead in the first quarter. However, Seward County fought back in the second quarter, tying the game 32-32 going into halftime. The third quarter saw Seward County taking a slight lead, outscoring Pratt 14-7. In the final quarter, Seward County was able to retake their lead and secured their win after they tied the game up at 50-50 with a minute left in regulation. 

Princess Anderson was the standout player for Pratt Community College, scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Macy Hanzlick ended the game with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams struggled with their shooting percentages, with Pratt shooting 26.6% from the field and Seward County shooting 27.9%. The Beavers did manage to go 10 of 14 at the free throw line with a 71.4 free throw percentage.  

Season Recap

The Beavers ended their season with a 13-18 overall record and a 7-17 conference record. The team averaged 71.9 points per game, 34.4 rebounds per game, and 11.5 assists per game. In addition, Pratt had a 9-8 record in home contests. The seven conference wins came against Barton, Colby (x2), Northwest Tech, Garden City, Independence, and Cloud County. 

Princess Anderson finished the season with 829 points and an average of 26.7 points per game and is the leading scorer not only for the Beavers, but in NJCAA division I women's basketball. Sophomore Macy Hanzlick is leading the team in rebounds with 8.9 per game and assists with 2.7 per game. In addition, Hanzlick averages 10.3 points per game. Isis Sanders ends her season as the third Beaver averaging double digit points a game with 13.6.
