Women's Soccer Shuts out Southeast to Advance to the NJCAA Region VI Championship

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College women's soccer team opened their postseason tonight, October 27 against the Storm of Southeast Community College. The Beavers are the #1 seed in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region VI playoffs and hold home field advantage throughout the postseason. In the previous two matches against the Storm, Pratt won both by a score of 2-0.

That magic number of two goals would come into play tonight. Pratt got on the board in the middle of the first half off a score by sophomore Gabriel Chavez. With a minute left in the first half, freshman Leticia Tessi gave the Beavers the 2-0 advantage with her twelfth goal of the season. The Beavers would hang on to their lead in the second half, to defeat the Storm for the third time this season with a score of 2-0.

The Beavers for the first time in program history will host Allen County for the NJCAA Region VI Championship on Sunday, October 30 at 2:00 pm. This season, Pratt and Allen County have split with the Beavers winning 1-0 on the road and losing 2-1 in double overtime at home. That loss back on October 12 was the only loss the Beavers have had in the past ten games. If Pratt would defeat the Red Devils they would not only win the NJCAA Region VI Championship for the first time in program history, but advance to the NJCAA Central Plains District Championship which would be hosted at the Pratt Soccer Complex. In addition, the team would break the program record with most wins in a season which they have currently tied at 11 from a season ago.
