PCC men's soccer drops match to Dodge City

Pratt Community College men's soccer returned home for a match against Dodge City Community College. The blustery game turned into a defensive stand still for much of the match. A late goal by Dodge City gave them the edge they needed. PCC drops the match to Dodge City 0-1.

The wind played a factor in the match as one side played into the wind while the other played with the wind at their backs. The Beavers held the wind advantage for the first half. They attacked the Dodge City goal with corners and a high pressure offense, but could not find the back of the net. Francesco D'Aurelio led the attack of the Blue and White with two shots on goal. Uriel Contreras, Aaron Grant, Victor Ferina, and Moises Diaz all had a shot on goal as well.

In the second half, Dodge City had the wind and used it to their advantage. The PCC defense held strong against the Dodge City attack. Martin Esquivel had six saves in the pipes for the Beavers.

In the 73rd minute, Joseph Vasquez broke the tie for Dodge City off of a free kick. Pratt played with emotion trying to find the equalizer late in the game, but the goaltending and defense of Dodge City held on for the win.

PCC men's soccer travels to Goodland, Kan. for a match against Northwest Kansas Tech on Oct. 15. Kickoff for the match is set for 4 p.m.
