PCC wrestling competes in the Bethany Swede Open

Pratt Community College wrestling traveled to Lindsborg, Kan. to compete in the Bethany Swede Open. The Beavers faced competition from the NJCAA level through NCAA Division I.

At 149 lbs., Dalton Hensley succeeded against strong competition. He won his first round match by fall at 6:46. Hensley's next two rounds saw him get solid decision wins with 11-6 and 12-5 decisions. In the 149 semifinals Hensley fell to Richard Pocock of Hastings. Hensley moved on to the consolation semifinals where he lost a close match to Marqual Graham of Northeast Oklahoma by a 1-2 decision. Hensley ended the Bethany Swede Open tied for fifth overall in his weight class.

In the 133 lbs. class, Justin Hershberger showed incredible heart after a first round decision loss to Tyler West of Cowley College. After falling into the consolation bracket, Hershberger strung together five wins to finish third in his weight class.

Dallas Wilson continues to be a tough competitor in the 125 lbs. class. He followed up his first place finish in the last open, with three victories in the Bethany Swede Open. Wilson made a statement in his first match with a win by fall at 4:49. He won his next two matches to advance to the 125 first place match against Mikey Mascarenas of Northeast Oklahoma. Wilson lost the match to Mascarenas to take second place at 125 lbs.

PCC wrestling travels to Kearney, Neb. for the Holiday Inn Loper Open on Nov. 18. Wrestling in the open starts at 9 a.m.
