PCC women's basketball gets conference win against Allen County

Pratt Community College women's basketball returned to the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena to host Allen County Community College on Jan. 13. The Beavers used a high scoring first half of 42 points to gain the lead and secure the win. PCC defeats Allen County 74-62.

The Beavers came out strong in the first half. Pratt held a 14 point lead by the start of the second quarter and took a 42-23 lead into the half. In the third quarter, the Blue and White held their largest lead of 26 points. Allen County tried to use runs in the third and fourth quarter to come back. Allen County outscored the Beavers in the second half, but Pratt answered each time to take the win.

As a team, Pratt used the three point shot against Allen County. The Beavers were 8 of 23 for 35 percent from behind the arch. Defensively, Pratt won the battle of the boards outrebounding Allen County 53 to 40.  

The Blue and White had scoring across the board against Allen County with five players breaking double digit points. Nya Mach led the Beavers in scoring with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Channa Parvin and Rebecca Younis each had 11 points. Jada Catlin led the bench in scoring with 11 points and seven assists. Player of the game goes to Pratt's Tianna Tullis. Tullis finished the game with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also had two assists and a steal against Allen County.

PCC women's basketball travels to Independence, Kan. to face Independence Community College on Jan. 17. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
