PCC wrestling starts dual season at the Cougar Duals

Pratt Community College wrestling began their dual season at Great Bend, Kan. at the Cougar Duals hosted by Barton Community College. The Beavers matched up with #14 Northwest Kansas Technical College followed by Colby Community College and concluding the dual against Cowley College.

First up for the Blue and White in the Cougar Duals was #14 Northwest Tech. The Beavers battled the Mavericks and held the team lead for most of the dual. After having injuries at 133 and at 174 to give up 12 points for the dual, Northwest Tech managed to get wins in the last few individual matches to take the dual. PCC drops a close one to Northwest Tech 21-28.

The Beavers rallied and got a small break before a dual against Colby Community College. Pratt took the lead early in the dual and never looked back. PCC wins 45-9 over Colby.

Concluding the Cougar Duals for Pratt was a matchup against Cowley College. The Blue and White fell behind early in the dual 0-11. Back-to-back wins by decision followed by pinfall wins by Justin Skerce and Nick Lucas gave the Beavers the lead at 13-11. Pratt continued to gain decision wins to secure the victory in the dual. PCC defeats Cowley College 30-17.

PCC wrestling travels to Wichita, Kan. to compete in the Kansas Cup on Jan. 21. Matches start at 9 a.m. and continue through the day.
