PCC softball splits double header with Bethany College JV

Pratt Community College softball returned to Angood Field to host Bethany College JV on a frigid February afternoon on the seventh. The Beaver bats were cold in the first game of the double header, but came alive in the second game for a thrilling end. Marisa Jonas came through with a double in the bottom of the seventh inning for a walk-off win. PCC splits the double header going one and one against Bethany.

In game 1, the Blue and White could not get their bats going. Bethany capitalized by sporadically scoring a few runs every inning. PCC drops game 1 0-8.

Game 2 started off looking like a repeat of the first game. Bethany put up two runs in the top of the first inning before being retired by the Beavers. The Blue and White responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs of their own. Bethany gained additional run support by scoring in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. Going into the bottom of the sixth PCC trailed 3-5. The Beavers tied the game up with two runs and the defense held Bethany scoreless in the top of the seventh. Lexi Sanborn led the bottom of the seventh off with a walk. Tymarra Bryant came in to pinch run for Sanborn. With Marisa Jonas at the plate, Bryant advanced to second on an error by the short stop. Jonas then drove a double to left field to bring Bryant home for the walk off double and a 6-5 PCC victory.

PCC softball gets little rest as they travel to Hutchinson, Kan. for a double header against Hutchinson Community College on Feb.8. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
