PCC baseball wraps up series with Seward CC

Pratt Community College baseball traveled to Liberal, Kan. to wrap up the second half of their four game series with Seward County Community College. The Beavers ran into Seward offense that came alive in the final two games of the series. PCC gets swept in the double header splitting the series at 2-2.

The Blue and White were the first to score in Game 3 of the series. Ben Van Diest reached second on an error on the second baseman to come all the way home for the first run. After the first run, Seward erupted in scoring. Over the next three innings, Seward scored five runs, six runs, and five runs for 16 runs. PCC loses Game 3 3-16.

Elerie Rivera led the Beavers from the plate in Game 3. Rivera went a perfect three for three at the plate with two runs and an RBI. He hit a double, triple, and home run in his at bats coming a single away from hitting for the cycle.

Gage Axline and Van Diest both went one for two at the plate. Axline brought home a run with an RBI and Van Diest scored a run.

Player of the game for Game 3 goes to Seward's Cole Bergdall who went a perfect three for three with three runs and three RBIs.

Game 4 saw the Seward offense continue their hot streak. While the Beavers mounted a resistance scoring seven runs, Seward could not be cooled down scoring 19 runs. PCC falls in Game 4 7-19.

Axline continued his strong play in the series in Game 4. Axline finished two for four at the plate with a run and an RBI. Trace Maddux and Eric Escamilla were perfect in their at bats in Game 4. Maddux ended the game going two for two with three runs and an RBI with two walks. Escamilla finished two for two with two runs and an RBI.

PCC baseball continues a five game road stretch with a game against Kansas Wesleyan JV on March 6. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
